A guide to achieving a mesmerising effect with magnetic polish.

Magnetic nail polish is a stunning and unique formula of polish that can add a touch of magic to your manicure. If you're new to this type of polish or simply want to learn more about it, you've come to the right place. In this blog post, we will guide you through the process of using magnetic nail polish to achieve stunning nail art, using our stunning magnetic polish, Bronze Blaze!

 

 

What is Magnetic Nail Polish?

Magnetic nail polish is a special type of polish that contains iron particles. When a magnet is held near the wet polish, the iron particles react and create mesmerising patterns on the nails. This creates a 3D effect that looks like intricate nail art.

 

Step-by-Step Guide to Using Magnetic Nail Polish

Follow these simple steps to achieve beautiful magnetic nail art:

Step 1: Prepare Your Nails

Start by preparing your nails. Remove any old polish and shape your nails to your desired length and shape. Ensure your nail plate is clean from oils. Apply a base coat to protect your nails and help the polish adhere better.

 

Step 2: Apply the Magnetic Nail Polish

Shake the magnetic nail polish bottle well to ensure the iron particles are evenly distributed. Apply one coat of the polish to your nails (or, if you prefer, you can use a solid colour like black for the foundation, to allow for better opacity), and let it dry for at least a few minutes. 

 

Then, apply a generous second coat of polish to one nail at a time. Please note, it is very important to work with one nail at a time when using magnetic polish, otherwise the polish may dry and the magnetic effect will not work.

 

Step 3: Create the Magnetic Effect

Immediately after applying the second coat of polish to your nail, hold the magnetic wand (provided with our magnetic polishes) or magnetic stand (provided with our Magical Magnetics bundle), over the wet polish. Make sure to position the magnet close to the nail without touching it. Hold your nail steady against the magnet for at least 30 seconds - but ideally up to one minute - to allow the pattern to form. (Tip: If you’re using a magnetic wand, wedge it between two books so that you don’t have to hold it yourself and just place your nail under it).

 

Step 4: Repeat for Each Nail

Repeat the process for each nail, applying the polish and creating the magnetic effect one nail at a time. This will ensure that the polish doesn't dry before you have a chance to use the magnet.

 

Step 5: Apply a Top Coat

Once you have created the magnetic effect on all your nails, allow them to dry completely. Then, apply a top coat to seal in the design and add shine to your nails.

To make sure the particles stay locked in the formation, it's recommended to use the magnet over the top coat while it dries. The top coat will also help protect the design and make it last longer.

 

Tips for Using Magnetic Nail Polish

Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your magnetic nail polish:

• Experiment with different magnet designs to create unique patterns. Our standard wand has two different magnet patterns, one on each end, that create two kinds of patterns.
• Hold the magnet as close to the nail as possible without touching it for a more defined pattern.
• Work quickly to create the magnetic effect before the polish dries.
• Use a moderately thick layer of polish to create the best magnetic effect - but not too thick as that can cause clumping. To find the perfect thickness might take some experimenting!
• Allow each coat of polish to fully dry before applying the next one.
